A process is provided for recovering sodium bicarbonate and ammonium sulfate from a solution containing sodium sulfate derived from a process for removing sulfur contaminants out of a gas with sodium bicarbonate reagent. Sodium bicarbonate is precipitated and removed from the solution. Ammonium sulphate (Amm. Henceforth) is a salt of a strong acid and a weak base. And hence like any other such salt, it will make the aqueous solution slightly acidic. The way it does so can be elaborated as following. On getting dissolved in.
